New-Caledonia Plants Red List: overview February 2017
Endemia has been mobilizing for the last 2 years a group of experts (the Red List Authority) in order to assess the extinction risk of the New Caledonia flora. The team established in February 2017 an overview of the work carried since 2015.
To date, 833 species (out of the 3,400 known species) have been treated, 41% of which were assessed are threatened.
The overview sumarizes a few figures produced from the red list assessments: number and proportion of threatened species, main habitats hosting threatened species, threats, distribution of species, conservation actions...
All assessments are appropriately documented and the data are freely available. They will be available on Endemia once published on the IUCN red list website.
