Description
SPAN:
Average size: 30 to 35 mm
SEXUAL DIMORPHISM:
Very marked on the upper side of the hind wings: in the male white with a thin black border and in the female a very wide black border.
BEHAVIOUR:
The adults fly slowly in the understorey, and are very conspicuous even in semi-darkness, often very close to the ground and between the branches of shrubs. The females remain near the host plants of the caterpillars; however, both males and females can venture out of the canopy towards flowering shrubs.
INTERSPECIFIC AND INTRASPECIFIC RELATIONSHIPS:
Peaceful species.
HABITAT:
Undergrowth of sclerophyllous forests, even very dense.
HOST PLANT:
Species related to Capparis sp.
Several generations completed annually.
