Dendrobium crassicaule is an endemic orchid of Grande Terre, restricted to summits of the southern part of Grande Terre (main island). D. crassicaule is found in moutain humid forest and high altitude shrubland composed with Araucaria humboldtensis. With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 84 and 2,374 km², D. crassicaule qualifies as Least Concern.

Population size is unknown but based on informations from experts, D. crassicaule constitutes quite big populations by station.

Habitat


D. crassicaule is found in moutain humid forest and high altitude shrubland composed with Araucaria humboldtensis.

There are no particular threats associated with this species.

Conservation


D. crassicaule is protected by legislation in Province Nord and Province Sud. D. crassicaule occurs in several protected areas : réserve naturelle du massif du Kouakoué, réserve intégrale de la Montagne des Sources, réserve naturelle du Mont Humboldt, réserve naturelle de la forêt de Saille, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy.
