Eria karicouyensis is an endemic epiphyte orchid of New Caledonia, widespread in Grande Terre, from Tiébaghi in the north to la Fausse Yaté in the south of Grande Terre. Eria karicouyensis occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range 200-1,150 m asl. Eria karicouyensis is considered Least Concern (LC).

This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Koniambo (KNS), Goro (VALE), Tiebaghi (SLN), Kopeto (SLN).
