Xeronema moorei is a endemic herbaceous plant from New Caledonia, where it has a scattered, but wide distribution across Grande Terre. It occurs in shrubland on rocky areas on ultramafic or volcano-sedimentary substrate, from 400 to 1,600 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 8,011 and 112 km², respectively, and it does not seem to be currently threatened. Therefore, X. moorei is listed as Least Concern (LC).

X. moorei is endemic to New Caledonia, where it has a scattered, but wide distribution across Grande Terre, from Pic du Pin to Forêt de Saille and from Mt. Paéoua to Diahoué.

Total population size is unknown.

Habitat


X. moorei is a herbaceous plant growing in shrubland on rocky areas, preferably on ultramafic substrate, but occasionally also volcano-sedimentary, from 400 to 1,600 m asl.

Threats


Some subpopluations might be impacted by bushfires or mining activities, but this species is very common and does not appear to be threatened at the moment.

Conservation


This species is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia, but it occurs in multiple protected areas: the Pic du Pin, Montagne des Sources, Mt. Mou, Mt. Humboldt, Massif du Kouakoué, Forêt de Saille et Mt. Panié natural reserves, as well as Rivière Bleue and Côte Oubliée provincial parks.
