Critically Endangered (CR) , assessed in 24/10/2019

Dischidia immortalis is an autochtonous and very rare species in New Caledonia. It is currently ony known from the limestone cliffs of Lifou at the Loyalty Islands. It was never observed at the Chépénéhé zone (Xénépéhé) since the Däniker's observation (1924-1926) and the only known location is at the south west coast of Huiwatrul. This species was observed in two distant trunck trees of around 10 metres. It occurs in habitat forests with a very high humidity and thus not threatened by bushfires. However wild and cattle ruminants are present in these forests and contribute to the decline of the habitat quality and dryness of the forest (personal comm. G. Kakué, 2017 to Gâteblé). Its area of occupance (AOO° and extent of occurence (EOO) are estimated to be 4 and 4 km² with a number of location equal to 1. This species is therefore considered Critically Endangered (CR) under B1ab(iii,v) + 2ab(iii,v).
