Data Deficient (DD) , assessed in 19/02/2016Gossia ouazangouensis is an endemic tree of New Caledonia. This species is insufficiently known and work is on-going for its taxonomic description. It is known of a single population in Ouazangou. It is found in forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 500-600 m asl. Therefore, G. ouazangouensis is assigned as Data Deficient (DD) and should be re-assessed as soon as the description is available because it seems threatened.

Habitat

Threats
This new species is presumed threatened by mining activities.
Conservation
Currently, there are no regulatory law dedicated to new species in New Caledonia : G. ouazangouensis is thus not protected by legislation. Taxonomy needs to be established.
