Pancheria engleriana is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland and forest on ultramafic substrate at high altitude. This species does not seem directly threatened. Pancheria engleriana is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Pancheria engleriana is spread across Grande Terre, essentially in the southern part (Humboldt, Kouakoué, Koghis...) and in the north-west on ultramafic massifs (Kaala, Mé Maoya, Paéoua...).
Population
This species can be abundant.
Habitat
It is found in shrubland and forest on ultramafic substrate at high altitude (700-1,400 m asl).
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities (Kaala, Taom, Koniambo, Kopéto, Camp des Sapins).
Conservation
Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in several protected areas : Pic du Pin, Massif du Kouakoué, Haute Dumbéa, Forêt de Saille, Montagne des sources, Mont Mou, Vallée de la Thy, Barrage de Yaté, Mont Humboldt
