Pandanus aragoens is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, restricted to the north-east of Grande Terre. It occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 900-1,000 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened as its habitat is not threatened. Therefore, despite having a restricted range P. aragoensis is tentatively considered to be Least Concern.

Pandanus aragoensis is an endemic shrub restricted to the north east of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Mont Arago to Ignambi.

Population


Population size is unknown.

Habitat


P. aragoensis occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 900-1,000 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened.

Conservation


Pandanus aragoensis is protected by legislation in Province Nord. This species is found in only one protected area: Mt Panié. Prospection is recommended on mont Arago, where it has not been observed since its discovery in 1868.
