Excoecaria agallocha is an native shrub or tree of New Caledonia largely distributed in Grande Terre as well as in Ile des Pins, Loyalty Islands (Maré, Lifou et Ouvéa) and Walpole island. This species is quite common and it is found in mangrove estuary and littoral on various substrate, up to 100 m asl. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 60,473 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 128 km², E. agallocha is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


E. agallocha is native to New Caledonia where it is largely distributed in Grande Terre as well as in Ile des Pins, Loyalty Islands (Maré, Lifou et Ouvéa) and Walpole island. It is also found in Asia and around the Pacifique islands.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations show it is a common and abundant species.

Habitat


E. agallocha occurs in mangrove estuary and littoral on various substrates, up to 100 m asl.

Threats


Despite being sensitive to vegetation degradation linked to urbanisation, this species does not seem directly threatened thanks to its wide distribution in the area.

Conservation


E. agallocha is not protected by any legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
