Codia spatulata is an endemic shrub/tree of New Caledonia. It is found in shrubland essentially on ultramafic substrate at low and mid altitude. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Codia spatulata is considered Least Concern (LC).

Codia spatulata is largely distributed across Grande Terre in New Caledonia.

Population


This species is common.

Habitat


It is found in shrubland (occasionnaly in forest) essentially on ultramafic substrate at low and mid altitude (10-900 m asl).

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities.

Conservation


This species is easy to grow in plant nurseries and is used in vegetation restoration. Unprotected by legislation, this species is found in numerous protected areas : Chutes de la Madeleine, Pic du grand Kaori, Vallée de la Thy, Netcha, Parc des Grandes Fougères.
