Diospyros trisulca occurs in forest on volcano-sedimentary at an altitudinal range 400 - 800 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Diospyros trisulca is considered Least Concern (LC).

This species is protected by legislation in Province Nord but not in Province Sud. It is known of two protected areas : Parc des Grandes Fougères, Aoupinié
