Casearia coriifolia is an endemic shrub of Grande Terre in New Caledonia. It is known from 3 subpopulations (Mont Do, Tchingou, Moindip) and may be present as well in Ponandou. It is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 750-1,000 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. C. coriifolia is considered Vulnerable (VU) using criteria D2 because of its small area of occupation (AOO) being estimated to 16 km².

It does not seem gloabally threatened. Potential mining activities on Tchingou would impact one sub-population.
This species is protected by the Code de l'environnement of province Nord. It occurs in one protected area : réserve naturelle du Mont-Do.
