Acridocarpus austrocaledonicus is an endemic shrub and tree widely distributed across the Grande Terre, as well as in Belep islands. This species occurs in scrublands and forests in various substrates up to 900 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) is equal to 17,330 km² and its area of occupancy (AOO) equal to 672 km². It is quite common and does not seem threatened. Therefore, Acridocarpus austrocaledonicus is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Acridocarpus austrocaledonicus is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed across the Grande Terre, as well as in Belep islands.

Population


The population size is not known. Field observations indicate that the species is quite common.

Habitat


This species occurs in scrublands and forests in various substrates up to 900 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem to be threatened.

Conservation


Acridocarpus austrocaledonicus is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in several protected areas : Côte Oubliée, Forêt de Saille, Barrage de Yaté, Haute Dumbéa, la Dumbéa, Massif du Kouakoué.
