Eugenia styphelioides ined. is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia. This species is insufficiently known and work is on-going for its taxonomic description. It is known of a single population in Dumbéa. It is found in forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 350 m asl. Therefore, Eugenia styphelioides ined. is assigned as Data Deficient (DD) for taxonomic reason. It should be re-assessed as soon as the description is available because it is presumed threatened.

Population size is unknown.

Habitat


It is found in forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 350 m asl.

Threats


This species may be threatened by bushfires. Myrtle's rust is a potential supplementary threat.

Conservation


Eugenia styphelioides ined. is not legally protected. It occurs in one protected area : parc provincial de la Haute-Dumbéa. Taxonomy needs to be established. Prospections are needed in order to improve the species knowledge (distribution, identification) so that extinction risk can be assessed.
