Syzygium tenuiflorum is an endemic shrub or small tree of New Caledonia with a scattered distribution in the north east of Grande Terre (from Paimboas to Aoupinié), the center and the south of the Grande Terre. This species is quite common and it occurs in dense humid forest on volcano sedimentary and ultramafic substrates, between 200 to 930 m asl. Despite having an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 56 and 3.801 km² respectively, S. tenuiflorum has no apparent threat, and is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


S. tenuiflorum is endemic to New Caledonia where it has a scattered distribution in the north east of Grande Terre (from Paimboas to Aoupinié), the center and the south of the Grande Terre.

Population


Population size is unknown but based on field observations, it is a common species.

Habitat


S. tenuiflorum occurs occurs in dense humid forest on volcano sedimentary and ultramafic substrate, between 200 to 930 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem to be threatened although some subpopulations may be impacted by fires.

Conservation


S. tenuiflorum is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does occur in three protected areas: Aoupinié, Rivière bleue and Haute Yaté.
