Phelline brachyphylla is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, which under current knowledge, is known from the central part of Grande Terre. It is found in humid forest essentially on schistose substrate at low to mid altitude (30-1,000 asl). This taxon is not well known. P. brachyphylla is therefore assessed as Data Deficient (DD) for taxonomic reasons.

P. brachyphylla is endemic to New Caledonia, which under current knowledge, is known from the central part of Grande Terre from Nakada to haute-Amoa.

Population


Population size is unknown.

Habitat


It is found in humid forest essentially on schistose substrate at low to mid altitude (30-1,000 m asl).

Threats


Threats are unknown.

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, this species would occur in two protected areas: Parc des Grandes Fougères and Aoupinié. Taxonomic studies should be carried on to bring further taxonnmic clarifications.
