Thiollierea retusiflora is an endemic shrub, found in Grande Terre from Col de Hô in the north to Camp des sapins in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in forest or shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range of 100-600 m asl. Ongoing mining activities impact some subpopulations. The habitat of Thiollierea retusiflora is moreover degraded by bushfires. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 44 and 1,133 km², while the number of locations is estimated to be six. Thiollierea retusiflora is therefore assessed as Vulnerable (VU) with criteria B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v) with a continuing decline of all concerned sub-criteria.

Thiollierea retusiflora is an endemic shrub, found in Grande Terre from Col de Hô in the north to Camp des sapins in the south of New Caledonia.

Population


Population size is unknown. It is known from seven subpopulations: Col de Hô, Cap bocage, Kouaoua : Ndouvéra, Massif de Bogota,Thio : Ton N'Deu, Forêt de Sailles, Camp des sapins.

Threats


Ongoing mining activities impact some subpopulations. The habitat of Thiollierea retusiflora is moreover degraded by bushfires. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Plateau (SLN), Camp des sapins (SLN), Cap Bocage (SMT).

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, Morierina propinqua does not occur in any protected area.
