Red List Status -Vulnerable (VU) , assessed in 21/04/2017
Thiollierea retusiflora is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, found in Grande Terre from Col de Hô to Camp des Sapins. It occurs in forest or shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range of 100-600 m asl. Ongoing mining activities impact some subpopulations. The habitat of Thiollierea retusiflora is moreover degraded by bushfires. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) are respectively estimated to be 44 and 1,133 km², while the number of locations is estimated to be eight. Thiollierea retusiflora is therefore assessed as Vulnerable (VU) with criteria B1ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,iv,v) with a continuing decline of all concerned sub-criteria.
Thiollierea retusiflora is an endemic shrub, found in Grande Terre from Col de Hô in the north to Camp des sapins in the south of New Caledonia.
Population size is unknown. It is known from nine subpopulations: Col de Hô, Cap Bocage, Versant nord-est du Cap Bocage, Kouaoua:Ndouvéra, Massif de Bogota, Canala, Thio:Ton N'Deu, Forêt de Sailles, and Camp des Sapins.
Thiollierea retusiflora occurs in forest or shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range of 100-600 m asl.
Ongoing mining activities impact some subpopulations. The habitat of Thiollierea retusiflora is moreover degraded by bushfires. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Plateau (SLN), Camp des sapins (SLN), Cap Bocage (SMT).
Unprotected by legislation, Thiollierea retusiflora does not occur in any protected area. This species would benefit from ex-situ and in-situ emergency conservation actions. It is recommended to inform the DSCGR (emergency services), responsible for the coordination of the firefighting effort on the presence of the species in the concerned areas.
