Psychotria nummularioides is an endemic shrub of New Caledonia, widespread in Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa, Lifou, Tiga, Maré), Ile des Pins, Walpole and Kuébini in Grande Terre. It occurs in dense humid forest at an altitudinal range 0-100 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened. Psychotria nummularioides is considered Least Concern (LC).
