Pandanus bernardii is an endemic treelet of New Caledonia with a scattered distribution in the south, the centre and the northern part of Grande Terre. The species occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic rocks at an altitudinal range 200-900 m asl. P. bernardii does not seem directly threatened and has an area of occupation (AOO) and an area of occurence (EOO) respectively estimated to 116 km² and 9,318 km². Therefore, P. bernardii is considered Least Concern (LC).

Habitat
Pandanus bernardii occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic rocks at an altitudinal range of 200-900 m asl.
Threats
P. bernardii does not seem threatened but some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires and mining actvities: Goro (Vale Inco).
Conservation
P. bernardii is protected by legislation in province Nord. This species is found in sevral protected areas: Mont Panié, Forêt cachée, Haute Yaté, Barrage de Yaté, Montagne des sources, Rivière bleue, Foret Nord.
