Red List Status -

Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 19/11/2021

Grevillea meisneri, commonly known as "Lanterne rouge commune", is a shrub growing up to 7 m high endemic from New Caledonia. It is distributed in the north west of the main land (Grande Terre), from its southern limit at Poya to its upper limit at Poum, as well as in Yandé and Pott islands. This species occurs in the lowest part of the north west massifs. It grows in scrubland (maquis) on serpentinite soil up to 650 m asl. This species is not directly thretatened by mining activities as it occurs outside mining sites. Some subpopulations may be impacted indirectly by mining activities (road constructions) and recurrent uncontrolled bushfires. However Grevillea meisneri is locally abundant tends to be resilient to uncontrolled bushfires (field observation indicate its regrowth after a fire event). Therefore with an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 304 and 5,039 km², respectively, Grevillea meisneri is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
