Bocquillonia rhomboidea is an endemic shrub, is found in the Massif du Sud, from Mont Koghi to Port Boisé, in the south of Gande Terre. It is found in in dense humid forest on ultramfic substrate, at an altitude range of 5 m to 500 m asl. The main impact identified may come from bushfires, hydric stress, feral pigs and mining activities. However this species is quite abundant and common. Known from from twelve locations, Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 52 and 550 km², respectively. Therefore, B. rhomboidea is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(i,ii,iii,v)+2ab with a decline of all the concerned sub criteria.
Geographical area
B. rhomboidea is an endemic species to New Caledonia where it is restricted in the Massif du Sud in the south of Grande Terre, from Mont Koghis to Port Boisé.

Population size is unknown.
Habitat
B. rhomboidea occurs in in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate, at an altitude range of 5 m to 500 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened becaus e of its abundance. However, the main impact identified may come from fires, hydric stress, feral pigs (Sus scrofa) and mining activity (Goro (VALE).
Conservation
B. rhomboidea is protected by legislation in Province Nord and it does occur in one protected area: Vallée de la Thy.
