Endemic orchid of New Caledonia, Liparis phalacrocorax is distributed from Plateau de Dogny to Mt. Kaala. L. phalacrocorax occurs in dense humid forest and shrubland on various substrates (serpentine, schist...). With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 60 and 3,493 km² respectively, L. phalacrocorax is considered Least Concern.

Habitat


L. phalacrocorax occurs in dense humid forest and shrubland on serpentinous and schists substrates.

Threats


L. phalacrocorax does not seem globally threatened. Mining activities on the Kaala and Taom may impact part of those subpopulations.

Conservation


L. phalacrocorax is protected in Province Sud and Province Nord and occurs in one protected area : réserve naturelle de la Nodéla.
