Dracophyllum mackeeanum is a narrow endemic shrub restricted to the southern massif of Grande Terre, in New Caledonia. This species is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 70-700 m asl. This species is threatened by mining activities that damage the species habitat quality. Its extent of occurrence and area of occupancy are respectively estimated to be of 818 km² and 28 km² while the number of locations are estimated to be 6. Using criteria B and with the estimation of a continuous decline of its area of occupancy (AOO), its habitat quality and the number of mature individuals, Dracophyllum mackeeanum is assessed as Vulnerable B1ab(ii,iii,v)+2ab(ii,iii,v).

Dracophyllum mackeeanum is a narrow endemic shrub of New Caledonia restricted to the southern massif of Grande Terre, from Thio to Tontouta and Vallée de Dumbéa.

Population size is unknown.

D. mackeeanum is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 70-700 m asl.

Threats

The main threat is mining activities (Mine Plateau and Mine Vulcain) that contribute to the decline of its habitat quality.

Conservation

Dracophyllum mackeeanum is protected by legislation in province Nord. It occurs in a single protected area: La Dumbéa.
