Data Deficient (DD) , assessed in 19/02/2016Gossia katepahiensis is an endemic tree of New Caledonia. This species is insufficiently known and work is on-going for its taxonomic description. It is known of a single population in Katepahie. It is found in forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 350 m asl. Therefore, G. katepahiensis is assigned as Data Deficient (DD) and should be assessed as soon as the description is available because it is presumed threatened.

This new species is presumed threatened by mining activities.
Conservation
Currently, there are no regulatory law dedicated to new species in New Caledonia: G. katepahiensis is thus not protected by legislation. Taxonomy needs to be established.
