Pycnandra obscurinerva is an endemic shrub of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Poum in the North to Boulinda in the South. It is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-1,600 m asl. The main impact identified comes from ongoing mining activities. Therefore, this species does not seem globally threatened. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 148 and 1,604 km², Pycnandra obscurinerva is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii) with a decline of habitat quality and a number of locations close to 10.

Pycnandra obscurinerva is an endemic shrub of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, from Poum in the North to Boulinda in the South.

Population


It is known from 10-11 subpopulations.

Pycnandra obscurinerva is found in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 20-1,600 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Tiebaghi (SLN), Kopeto (SLN), Koniambo(KNS) Ouazangou (NMC) and bushfires.

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, this species does not occur in a protected area.
