Near Threatened (NT) , assessed in 15/09/2016Psychotria ireneae is an endemic shrub known in Grande Terre from Monts Görö Até in the north to Massif de Arago in the south of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sédimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 500-890 m asl. The main potential impact would come from bushfires. Population does not seem to decline. Its area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) being respectively estimated to 36 and 243 km², Psychotria ireneae is considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU D2 with a number of locations equal to four.

Psychotria ireneae is an endemic shrub known in Grande Terre from Mont Görö Até in the north to Massif d'Arago in the south of New Caledonia.
Population
It is known from four sub-populations: Aoupinié, Tchamba, Goro Ate,Arago. Population does not seem to decline.
Habitat
Psychotria ireneae occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sédimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 500-890 m asl.
Threats
Busfires could be a potential threat to this species.
Conservation
Unprotected species by legislation, Psychotria ireneae occurs in one protected area: Aoupinié.
