Leichhardtia nigriflora is an endemic liana from New Caledonia where it has a discontinious distribution across the main island (Grande Terre). It is also present at Ile des Pins. It occurs in low forest and shrubland on ultramafic substrate up to 600 m asl. It is not impacted by mining activies due to its low altitudinal range but it is threatened by bushfires. Its Area of Occupancy (AOO) and Extent of Occurrence (EOO) are respectively estimated to be 56 and 5,683 km² and its number of locations is estimated to be over 10. Leichhardtia nigriflora is therefore considered Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(iii,v)+2ab(iii,v) with an estimated decline of the habitat quality and the number of mature individuals.

Threats


This species is not impacted by mining activies due to its low altitudinal range but by bushfires with an exception for the Mt. Mou an drivière Bleue locations.

Conservation


Leichhardtia nigriflora is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected areas
