Apodytes clusiifolia is an endemic shrub or tree of New Caledonia, locally named "Faux Ralia". It is widely distributed on Grande Terre. This species occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and micaschiste substrates, up to 1,400 m asl. It is common and does not seem to be significantly threatened. Therefore, despite having an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 9,680 km² and a minimum Area of Occupancy (AOO) of 200 km², A. clusiifolia is assessed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Apodytes clusiifolia is endemic to New Caledonia where it is largely distributed in Grande Terre.

Population


Population size is unknown but field observations indicate a common species.

Habitat


Apodytes clusiifolia occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and micaschistes substrate, up to 1,400 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened. However, some subpopulations may be impacted by bushfires and mining activities at Kopeto.

Conservation


Apodytes clusiifoliais not protected by any legislation in New Caledonia. It does occur in several protected areas: Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy, Aoupinié, Haute Yaté, Massif du Kouakoué, Montagne des sources, Mont Do, Mont Panié, Pic Ningua.
