Description

Pileus: convex; 5–40 mm diameter; pointed conical scales cover the cap; dry; yellow, orange yellow, burnt orange.

Stipe: cylindrical; 5 – 40 × 2 – 5 mm; with conical scales which fall off at maturity; yellow to orange, but white at the apex.

Gills: adnate; moderately distant; white; lamellulae in two series.

Flesh: thin,white.

Spore print: white.                       

Spores: limoniform; 8–10.8× 4.8 – 7.2µm; smooth.

Notes: this fungus is characterized by its orange cap with conical scales yellow orange stipe and its habit of growing on large logs and tree trunks.
