Description

Description

Pileus: broadly convex becoming applanate; 40 -50 mm diameter; glabrous, grey buff; velar remnants flat, white, fugacious; margin not appendiculate.

Stipe: cylindrical; 40 – 50 × 8 - 10 mm; white and glabrous above the ring, greyish white and striate below; ring pendulous 60% up, white; with small bulb and volva at base.

Gills: adnexed to almost free; crowded, white; lamellulae in one series.

Spore print: white.

Spores:

Notes: a medium sized greybuff Amanita, with a cylindrical stipe and a small bulbous volva. Sequencing suggests this is closely related to A. karea found in New Zealand


Support

Soil, in mixed forest, probably mycorrhizal with Melaleuca quinquenervia.
