Zeuxine vieillardii is an autochthonous geophytic orchid of New Caledonia, largely distributed across the whole Grande Terre (main island). Z. vieillardii occurs in riparian forest and dense humid forest at an altitudinal range 15-1200 m asl. With an area of occupancy and an extent of occurrence equal to 184 and 9,567 km² respectively, Z. vieillardii is considered Least Concern.

Habitat


Z. vieillardii occurs in riparian forest and dense humid forest at an altitudinal range 15-1200 m asl.

Threats


Z. vieillardii does not seem globally threatened. Wild pig are nonetheless impacting some subpopulations (Parc des Grandes Fougères).

Conservation


Z. vieillardii is protected by legislation in Province Nord and occurs in numerous protected areas, namely : réserve de nature sauvage du Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères, réserve naturelle du Mont Mou, Parc Provincial de la Rivière Bleue, réserve naturelle de la Vallée de la Thy.
