Taxonomy

Description

The genus contains about twenty Australian species and one Caledonian species.

The biology of the species of the genus is remarkable: the larvae develop under the bark of dead trees, development takes approx. 4 months. Adult beetles are active predators that kill and eat other insects, but they probably also eat fruit. They can live up to three years of adulthood. This species is found with ants and termites.
