"Male: 17-20mm. Body oval convex and noticeably elongated, reddish brown to shiny black; noticeably widened towards the rear. Clypeus concave with raised anterior rim, very strongly converging sides towards the front which is truncated towards the front with two slightly marked denticles

Female: very similar except rounded clypeus.

Known from several localities on Grande Terre, the Loyalty Islands, the Isle of Pines, also present in Norfolk."
