Description

"Male 28-30mm. Body in relatively elongated oval, very convex, shiny reddish brown, glabrous above; chest with long red, dense pubescence. Long, slightly curved cephalic horn in major males.


Female: cephalic horn replaced by a transverse blade with rounded upper edge and indented in the middle.


Larva in the humus at the foot of the trees.

Known from Noumea, Bélep Islands (IRSNB Holotype: Art Island), Lifou. 

Subspecies present in Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, possibly from the Bismark Islands. Also present in Australia, Papua New Guinea. "
