Calanthe balansae is an endemic terrestrial orchid, widespread in Grande Terre, from Mandjelia in the north to forêt du Faux Bon Secours in the south of New Caledonia. Achlydosa glandulosa occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range 100-1,100 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Calanthe balansae is considered Least Concern (LC).
