Dicksonia baudouinii is an endemic tree fern of New Caledonia, which can grow above 3 meters, widespread across Grande Terre from Ignambi in the north to Koghis in the south. It occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrate, at an altitudinal range of 300-1,370 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) respectively equal to 8,665 and 120 km², Dicksonia baudouinii is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown but it seems quite common in high altitude.

There is no major threat identified.
Conservation
Dicksonia baudouinii is protected by legislation and occurs in several protected areas: Massif du Kouakoué, Mont Mou, Vallée de la Thy, Mont Do, Rivière bleue, Haute Pourina, Mont Panié, Mont Humboldt, Forêt de Saille.
