in Northern ProvinceBasselinia pancheri is an endemic, solitary, rarely clustered, subcanopy to emergent tree palm largely distributed throughout the Grande Terre in New Caledonia. Basselinia pancheri occurs in dense humid forest and secondary forests on serpentine soils derived from ultramafic rocks from sea level to 1,000 m asl. This species not seem directly threatened. B.pancheri is considered Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown but this species is one of the widespread species throughout the Grande-Terre in New Caledonia.
Habitat
Basselinia pancheri occurs in dense humid forest and secondary forests on serpentine soils derived from ultramafic rocks from sea level to 1,000 m asl.
Threats
The population does not appear to be threathened even though some sub populations are impacted by fire and mines.
Conservation
Basselinia pancheri is protected by legislation in Province Nord. B. pancheri occurs in several protected areas : Mont Panié, Parc de la Rivière Bleue, La Dumbéa, Mont Do, Forêt cachée, Barrage de Yaté, Montagne des sources, Haute Dumbéa, Forêt de Saille, Pic du Pin, Pic du grand Kaori, Massif du Kouakoué, Foret Nord, Nodela, Haute Yaté, Chutes de la Madeleine, Vallée de la Thy.
