Pycnandra comptonii is an endemic tree of New Caledonia largely distributed across Grande Terre from Bouirou to Pouébo. It is essentially found in humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 200-1100 m asl. This species is largely distributed and does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra comptonii is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Pycnandra comptonii is largely distributed across Grande Terre in New Caledonia, mostly in the eastern coast from Bouirou to Pouébo.

Population


This species is quite common. It is known from 10-12 sub-populations.

Habitat


Pycnandra comptonii is found in humid forest on volcano-sedimentary substrate at an altitudinal range 200-1100 m asl.

Threats


This species does not seem globally threatened.

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, P. comptonii occurs in two protected areas : Mont Panié, Aoupinié.
