Pycnandra acuminata is an endemic tree, mainly found in the south part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, along east coast and in the northwestern part of Grande Terre (Tiébaghi 's area and Ile Néba). P. acuminata is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 0-400 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Pycnandra acuminata is considered Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Pycnandra acuminata is mainly found in the south part of Grande Terre in New Caledonia, along east coast and in the northwestern part of Grande Terre (Tiébaghi 's area and Ile Néba).

Population size is unkown.

Habitat


Pycnandra acuminata is found in dense humid forest on ultramafic substrate at an altitude of 0-400 m asl.

Threats


Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities. However, this species does not seem globally threatened.

Conservation


Unprotected by legislation, P. acuminata occurs in five protected areas : Forêt Nord, Pic du grand Kaori, Barrage de Yaté, Rivière Bleue, Kouakoué.
