Parsonsia crebriflora is a robust liana endemic of New Caledonia, widespread in Grande Terre from Goro in the south to Arama in the north of New Caledonia. It occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitudinal range of 150-1,100 m asl. This species occurs in several protected areas and is very common. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) estimated to be 11,739 and 256 km², respectively, Parsonsia crebriflora does not seem globally threatened. It is therefore considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Parsonsia crebriflora is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widespread in Grande Terre from Goro in the south to Arama in the north of New Caledonia.
Population
The population size is not known. However field observations indicate that the species is very common.
Habitat
Parsonsia crebriflora occurs in dense humid forest on ultramafic and volcano-sedimentary substrates at an altitudinal range 150-1,100 m asl.
Threats
This species occurs in several protected areas and is very common and it does not seem globally threatened.
Conservation
Parsonsia crebriflora is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in several protected areas : la Dumbéa, Aoupinié, Côte Oubliée, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, Montagne des sources, Mont Panié, Parc des Grandes Fougères, Pic Ningua, Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy.
