in Southern Province , in Northern ProvinceGmelina evoluta is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia restricted to the northwestern coast of Grande Terre, from Kopéto to Poum massif. This species occurs in low elevation maquis on ultramafic substrate up to 465 m asl. Its habitat is impacted by recurrent bushfires. The species is also threatened by the mining activities in Tiébaghi massif. Its AOO and EOO are respectively estimated to be 56 and 895 km², but the number of locations is considered to be greater than 10. Therefore, Gmelina is assessed as Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab (i,ii,iii,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,v) with an estimated decline of all the concerned sub-criteria.

Geographical area
Gmelina evoluta is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the northwestern coast of Grande Terre, from Kopéto to Poum massif.
Population
The population size is not known.
Habitat
Gmelina evoluta occurs in low elevation maquis on ultramafic substrate up to 465 m asl.
Threats
Its habitat is impacted by recurrent bushfires. The species is also threatened by the mining activities in Tiébaghi massif.
Conservation
Gmelina evoluta is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected areas.
