Gmelina evoluta is an endemic shrub restricted to the northwestern coast of Grande Terre, from Kopéto (southern limit) to Poum massif (upper limit). This species occurs in low elevation maquis on ultramafic substrate between 10 and 465 m asl. Its habitat is impacted by recurrent bushfires and mining activities (Tiebaghi massif). Its AOO and EOO are respectively estimated to be 56 and 895 km², but the number of locations is considered to be greater than 10. Therefore, Gmelina is assessed as Near Threatened (NT) close to VU B1ab(i,ii,iii,v)+2ab(i,ii,iii,v) with an estimated decline of all the concerned sub-criteria.

Gmelina evoluta is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the northwestern coast of Grande Terre, from Kopéto (southern limit) to Poum massif (upper limit).
Population
The population size is not known.
Habitat

Conservation
Gmelina evoluta is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected areas.
