in Northern ProvinceTristaniopsis calobuxus is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across all ultramafic massifs of Grande Terre. This species occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate up to 1,000 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 11,947 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 324 km², respectively. It is quite common and locally abundant and does not seem threatened. Thereore, T. calobuxus is listed as Least Concern (LC).

T. calobuxus is endemic to New Caledonia, where it is widely distributed across all ultramafic massifs of Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that the species is quite common and abundant.
Habitat
T. calobuxus occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate, up to 1,000 m asl.
Threats
This abundant species does not seem to be threatened at the moment, although some subpopulations may be impacted by uncontrolled bushfires and mining activities (Kopéto, Kouaoua, Plateau de Thio, Tiébaghi (SLN), Ouazangou (NMC), Koniambo (KNS), Nakéty (SMT), Goro (Vale)).
Conservation
T. calobuxus is not protected by any legislation in New Caledonia, but it occurs in several protected areas: Parc de la Rivière Bleue, Vallée de la Thy, Haute Yaté, Forêt de Saille, Barrage de Yaté, Montagne des sources.
