in Northern ProvinceTristaniopsis macphersonii is an endemic shrub from New Caledonia, where it has a scattered distribution in the far south and the east coast of Grande Terre. This species occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate from 100 to 550 m asl. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are equal to 3,400 and 220 km², respectively. This species is quite common and abundant and does not seem to be threatened at the moment. Therefore, T. macphersonii is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
T. macphersonii is endemic to New Caledonia, where it is has a scattered distribution: it is common in the far south, and also present in Povila and Poro, in the northeast of Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is unknown.
Habitat
T. macphersonii occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate from 100 to 550 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem to be threatened at the moment, although some subpopulations may be impacted by uncontrolled bushfires and mining activities (Goro (Vale)).
Conservation
T. macphersonii is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia, but it occurs in three protected areas: Chutes de la Madeleine, Pic du Pin and Barrage de Yaté.
