It occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range 350-1,100 m asl. This species does not seem directly threatened. Clematepistephium smilacifolium is considered Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Clematepistephium smilacifolium is an endemic epiphyte orchid of New Caledonia , widespread in Grande Terre, from Mandjelia in the north to Vallée de la Thy in the south.
Population
Population size is unknown. Although it was reported abundant in Dogny, Yaté barrage, Mont Unia and Paéoua.
Habitat
Clematepistephium smilacifolium occurs in humid forest at an altitudinal range 350-1,100 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened.
