Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 24/10/2019Beaupreopsis paniculata is an endemic shrub growing up to 0.2-1.5 m high from New Caledonia restricted to the south of Grande Terre. This species is quite common and it occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate from 30 to 1,580 m asl. Despite having an Area of Occupancy (AOO) and an Extent of Occurrence (EOO) equal to 256 and 2,409 km², B. paniculata has no apparent threat. Therefore, it is not thought to approach the requirements for listing as threatened. It is listed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Beaupreopsis paniculata is endemic to New Caledonia where it is restricted to the Grand Massif Sud of the Grande Terre.
Population
Population size is not known but based on field observations, the species is quite common in the Grand Massif Sud.
Habitat
Beaupreopsis paniculata occurs in shrubland on ultramafic at an altitudinal range of 30 to 1,580 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem threatened although some subpopulations may be potentially impacted by bushfires and mining activities at Camp des sapins and Vulcain
Conservation
Beaupreopsis paniculata is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in several protected areas: Forêt de Saille, Haute Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, la Dumbéa, Massif du Kouakoué, Montagne des sources, Mont Humboldt, Mont Mou, Rivière bleue, Vallée de la Thy.
