It occurs in shrubland on ultramafic substrate at an altitudinal range 200-1,300 m asl. This species does not seem globally threatened. Normandia neocaledonica is considered Least Concern (LC).

Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened. Some subpopulations may be threatened by mining activities: Kopeto (SLN), Nakéty (SMT), Koniambo (KNS), Nakéty-Euréka_Ménélick (NMC), Vulcain (SMGM), Goro (VALE), Kouaoua (SLN).
Conservation
Normandia neocaledonica occurs in seven protected areas : Pic du Pin, Forêt de Saille, Haute Dumbéa, Montagne des sources, la Dumbéa, Vallée de la Thy, Massif du Kouakoué.
