Tarenna lifouana is a tall endemic tree from New Caledonia, where it is known from the Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa and Lifou) and Ile des Pins. It occurs in forest on calcareous substrate up to 30 m asl. This species is very common on Lifou island and it does not seem to be threatened at the moment. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 16,219 and 48 km², respectively. Therefore, T. lifouana is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Geographical area


Tarenna lifouana is endemic to New Caledonia where it is known from the Loyalty Islands (Ouvéa and Lifou) and Ile des Pins.

Population


Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is very common on Lifou island.

Habitat


This species occurs in forest on calcareous substrate up to 30 m asl.

Threats


This species is common in Lifou island and it does not seem to be threatened at the moment.

Conservation


Tarenna lifouana is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected areas.
