Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 12/05/2022Melodinus vitiensis is a big and robust liana autochthonous to New Caledonia. It is only known from Loyalty islands (Maré, Lifou and Ouvéa). It is also present in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. This species grows in forest on calcareous substrate (katcha) up to 30 m asl. This species does not seem threatened. With an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 1,537 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 28 km², Melodinus vitiensis is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Melodinus vitiensis is an autochthonous species from New Caledonia where it is only known from Loyalty islands (Maré, Lifou and Ouvéa). It is also present in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.

This species does not seem threatened.
Conservation
Melodinus vitiensis is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
