Rottboellia coelorachis is an autochtonous herb from New Caledonia where it is mainly present in littoral areas of the far north and far south of Grande Terre as well as in Loyalty islands (Maré, Lifou, Ouvéa and Tiga), Bélep islands and Ile des Pins. This species occurs in littoral habitats mainly on calcareous substrate and serpentine up to 30 m asl. This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened. Its extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) are estimated at 60,654 and 116 km², respectively. Therefore, Rottboellia coelorachis is listed as Least Concern (LC).

Population size is unknown, but field observations indicate that this species is common.

This species is common and it does not seem to be threatened.
Conservation
Rottboellia coelorachis is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia and it does not occur in any protected area.
